It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these makeup purchase round-up posts. April has been a rough month, in terms of sticking to my makeup resolutions. I had some coupon codes that was expiring this months, the Sephora and Ulta sales, and some new releases I was interested in trying out. Let’s take a look at what I purchased this month:
Let’s start with lip products. I had a coupon to Colourpop that was expiring, so I picked up 3 of their new blotted (and ultra blotted) lips and only had to pay shipping. I tried the blotted lips from the colourpop x alexis ren collection and I liked it – it was easy to use and I liked the effect.
Keeping on the lip trend, I bought some lip whips from beauty bakerie (whose packaging is A+) and those suckers will not budge. It’s definitely drying and settles into my fine lines, but they will not move. You need oil to get that sucker off. Rounding up my lip purchases, I bought one of kat von d’s new everlasting lip liners in Lolita, a classic shade. I love the shade, but I’m not a fan of the liquid lip formula so thought this would be a nice alternative. Plus, I got this on sale during the Sephora VIB Sale (only one of two things I ordered!).
Keeping with the makeup theme, I also bought the hourglass veil mineral primer during the Sephora VIB Sale. I only got the travel size, mainly to try it out. I’ve heard such great reviews on this, especially for oily skin, so I’m hoping this works out for me! At the Ulta Platinum Sale, I purchased a nyx foundation mixer in olive. I already own the white version and thought I would get olive to help with those foundations that just don’t match quite right. I love that this doesn’t change the consistency of your foundation. Rounding up makeup, I bought one of wet n wild’s cushion bronzer, which I’ve heard some good things about and I love that wet n wild is so affordable. To keep everything in place, I bought the milani make it last setting spray. I’ve just gotten back into using a setting spray, so I’m excited to try this one out – hoping for a drugstore alternative to the Urban Decay’s All Nighter Setting Spray.
Next up, we have some skincare items, mainly for The Ordinary and Origins. Like I mentioned in a previous post, I went to the Origins’ launch party and they had a discount for anything you purchased during the event. I snagged the zero oil moisturizer and 2 of their new sheet masks. From The Ordinary, I bought 4 items, all which were pretty affordable (less than $10 a piece!). I’ve picked up some rosehip oil, advanced retanoid 2%, lactic acid 5%, and one of their high -adherence silicone primer. Last for the skincare items, I bought a new face sunscreen: the shiseido urban environment oil-free uv protector (spf 42). I love Shiseido skincare and sunscreens, so I was okay with the higher price tag (plus, I used my 20% off coupon).
Rounding out my purchases, I bought all six shades of from the kl polish spring line. I love the pastels and there was a slight discount when you buy all of them at once. I’ve recently decluttered a lot of my nail polishes and I didn’t really have any nice colors for spring. I’ve tried pistachio ice cream, which such a beautiful light green color and I love the formula so far.
Whew, that was a long one! Like I mentioned previously, I’m writing this all up to keep track and try to curb my spending. In May, I’m not planning on buying anything – in fact, I’m trying to shed some of my collection. I’m going to probably do another collection clear out, so look out for that!

’til next time, xo!
